How WorkWhile Made Clay Rep-Ready for Its Sales Team

Powerful data shouldn’t require RevOps at every click

WorkWhile is an AI-powered labor platform that helps businesses find and manage reliable frontline workers. Behind that marketplace is a go-to-market team responsible for reaching the operators who need flexible staffing—and giving its sellers enough context to work each account well.
Diego Graterol, GTM Strategy & Operations Manager at WorkWhile, oversees the systems and strategy supporting the company’s AE and SDR teams. When he looked at WorkWhile’s prospecting stack, the trade-off was familiar: traditional data platforms were easy for reps to use, but expensive. Clay offered far more flexibility and better value, but exposing all of that power directly to sellers created a different problem.
“Clay is a groundbreaking tool. It’s very powerful, but it can also be fragile and require a lot of work.”
— Diego Graterol, GTM Strategy & Operations Manager at WorkWhile
For Diego, the challenge existed on both sides of the workflow. On the front end, reps needed a simple way to act on the prospects they found. On the back end, GTM Ops had to maintain enrichment logic as data providers, fields, and CRM architecture changed.
WorkWhile needed a middle layer: something simple enough for a seller to use in the flow of prospecting, but flexible enough for Ops to preserve the logic and control that made Clay valuable in the first place.

The control layer between LinkedIn, Clay, and Salesforce

WorkWhile’s primary Exportly workflow is **Send to CRM**. A rep starts with the LinkedIn profile of a prospect they actually want to reach. From there, Exportly runs the contact through WorkWhile’s Clay workflow, checks whether the person already exists in Salesforce, evaluates which information is already present, fills the gaps, and returns a complete CRM-ready record.
The result goes beyond finding a phone number or email address. WorkWhile can use the same interface for targeted contact research, mapping an organization, and identifying the specific people needed for a buying committee—all without asking reps to navigate a complex Clay table.
“One of the biggest value adds of Exportly is the flexibility and control reps get to find contact data. We have confidence that the flows work, and anytime they don’t, they’re quickly resolved.”
— Diego Graterol
That control matters as more prospecting tools promise a fully automated “easy button.” For broad searches, automation can be fast. But role titles, reporting lines, and buying committees rarely fit a perfect template. A black-box workflow may return contacts without showing a rep the full account—or may stop after finding only part of the buying group.
Exportly lets WorkWhile keep the speed of an automated enrichment flow while allowing reps to decide which accounts and contacts matter. They can see the lay of the land, choose the right subset of people, and go deeper when an account calls for it.

3–4× estimated savings—with budget left for the rest of the stack

The move also changed the economics of WorkWhile’s data stack. Diego estimates that using Exportly and Clay for enrichment saves the company three to four times compared with its previous approach.
“I feel like we saved three to four times by using Exportly plus Clay for data enrichment. It helped unlock budget for some really nice tools for the reps.”
— Diego Graterol
For a startup GTM team, the benefit is bigger than replacing one data vendor. Lower enrichment costs create room to invest elsewhere, while the workflow remains adaptable as WorkWhile’s sales motion and systems evolve.

More than a tool: an ongoing product partnership

Diego describes Exportly as a product and team partnership—not a one-size-fits-all extension. When WorkWhile needs to change a flow, refine a data source, or explore a new prospecting workflow, the Exportly team works alongside GTM Ops to build and maintain it.
“You’re more than a tool or a product. I see the way you partner with us as a genuine strategic thought partner in how we expand and think about contact data and top-of-funnel prospecting. For startups that are strapped for time, it gives us a little bit of peace of mind.”
— Diego Graterol
That partnership gives WorkWhile a prospecting system its reps can use today and its Ops team can keep improving tomorrow: Clay’s flexibility, delivered through a controlled rep experience, without the traditional data-platform price tag.
